Bed bugs feed on human blood and nest in bedding, mattresses and bed frames. Their bites are painless, but can cause minor swelling and itching. However, evidence of bites might not show up for 1-2 weeks, so the best way to identify bed bugs is by looking for dark spots, dead bugs, and blood spots left on the bedding and mattress. They can easily spread from one bedding area to another through luggage, clothing, blankets and other fabrics.
